Foundations for your porch or timber frame may as simple as a two concrete pads with small brick piers for the front posts but larger porches with mid height walls will require adequate foundations. Ground works are not usually that big for porches and smaller structures but garages and carports will require a strip foundation or a thicker raft foundation, depending on tree roots and both will be required to be signed off by building regs at your local council. The diagrams and links are only for a guideline and resources use only and all foundations details will ultimately be down to the customer unless we are managing the project.
