SOFTWOOD PORCHES
All of the structures in this website have the potential to be produced in softwood and although most of our customers ask us to make their porches and other structures in oak, the option is always there for the frames to be produced in kiln dried joinery quality pine. Surprisingly though there is not much difference in the cost by using this material as the cost of kiln dried softwood beams in 150 x 150 mm can sometimes be more expensive than using oak and the labour on each porch is the same. Oak is the tightest grain hardwood and therefore one of the strongest and longest lasting materials to use when timber framing which is why when most people have the option they usually go for the oak.
There are many circumstances though where oak just does not suit the property or the surroundings so we are always up for producing porches and canopy porches in softwood that can be painted or stained by others, to suit your every need.
If you have any ideas or if you have seen something in softwood that you think would blend in with your propertry then please let us know and we are always happy to advise.
